One of our association’s initiatives is also promoting the pursuit of white truffles, an activity that has become a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Prasco is one of the 20 villages associated with “The Villages of the Highly Prized White Truffle of Alto Monferrato.”
Every year, beginning in early October, Monferrato’s weekends are enlivened by the many truffle fairs that, week after week, attract visitors from far and wide.
After all, it is the Tuber Magnatum Pico that is the undisputed king of the Monferrato autumn table, and what better place to celebrate—and savor!—the truffle than this region of Piedmont, so rich in history, enchanting villages, and fairytale landscapes!
October 1st marks the official start of the white truffle season in Piedmont, and with it begins a busy calendar of truffle-themed events, which will continue until December, including in the Alto Monferrato area and the famous Langhe.
In short, there’s no shortage of opportunities to enjoy the white and black truffles of Monferrato!
And one of these is booking a hunt.
Truffles are a rare gift of the earth; they’re particularly sensitive to pollution and climate change, and grow only in very specific environmental conditions. One thing most truffles have in common, for example, is their ability to thrive in soils rich in calcium carbonates, moist (but well-drained and free of stagnant water), and well-aerated—just like the hill on which the Fabbrica stands, which has been gifting its hunters with black and white gold for years!
The El Bric association can book you a 24-hour truffle-themed getaway.
Arrive for a sunset aperitif on the tower facing Monviso, featuring cured meats and truffles. Overnight stay. The following morning, a truffle hunt with professional truffle hunters and dogs, followed by a lunch featuring the collected truffles, cooked by the hunters.
